सब-urban : streets without people

The 2020 pandemic has arguably brought the whole world to a standstill. While I am trudging my days staying indoors, I couldn’t help but imagine how few of my favourite streets in Fort Kochi would now look.

So here is an attempt to try and visualise the romantic streets of Fort Kochi. I have chosen stills from my collection of photos where you can hopefully see a gradation of the street volume. Enjoy!

Beachside street — Makes a minimal difference as the activity is concentrated away from this street
Market street — The quaint architecture turns almost ghostly with no humane touch
The street leading to Jewish Synagogue — I couldn’t help but think of this as a premonition of what this old town is soon going to turn into; the skeletal remains of the soul long gone

Hello there! As an architect and aspiring urbanist, this blog is my take on the built world. I document what I learn, books that I love and some illustrations.
